On days like today, take out is a necessity. This Monday has been a pain in the ass since I opened my eyes this morning. My alarm never went off, I woke up with a head cold from sleeping with my ceiling fan on, and I left my clothes in the washer overnight so on top of oversleeping there was nothing to wear. Nevertheless, I was determined to make the most out of the remainder of the day. Since I survived such a series of unfortunate events I thought it would be wise to reward myself with sushi. Tuscaloosa has a quite a few options when it comes to this category of cuisine, but today I decided to dine at Kobe Steakhouse and Sushi Bar.
This particular location is in Midtown Village @ 1800 McFarland Blvd East. I’ve ate at a Kobe location prior to this but I’ve never visited the one here in Tuscaloosa. When I initially entered the restaurant two thoughts came to mind; the aroma was very inviting and the hostess was helpful and kind. The setup was clean and neat, it seemed to be a slow day. Any other time I would eat in to and be amused by the hibachi grill, but in this instance I didn’t have the time to spare. The menu is decorated with dishes that include teppanyaki dinners, land & sea combinations, and sushi rolls to name a short list. I was tempted to devour just about everything I laid my eyes on, but in the end I went with the shrimp tempura roll (deep fried) and the spicy tuna roll. I’m not really a fan of tuna but I thought I’d try it anyway; I wasn’t disappointed. Both rolls had their own distinct taste and turned out to be delicious. I give em’ both a thumbs up.
If you’re interested in making your own review they are open 7 days a week; I highly recommend this restaurant. Their hours of operation are as follows: Monday 4:30 pm – 9:00 pm, Tuesday 4:45 pm – 9:00 pm, Wednesday 4:45 pm-9:00 pm, Thursday 4:30 pm – 9:00pm, Friday 4:45pm – 9:30 pm, Saturday & Sunday 1:45 pm – 9:00 pm.
